I’ve had a 10 year association with the owner of Sofaworks and Enrique is soon to release both his new website and a swathe of great new products onto the market.

Here’s a sneak peek and – later - a bit of information about his work… some of the images of product are unworked / unedited before being loaded into the new site.

A Unique Approach to a Client Twitter-Fed Directory Site : Advertiser Control

Launched just over 2 months ago, whatzon is a fresh approach to a live-to-air marketing by the traders, vintners, restaurateurs and accommodation hosts of the Yarra Valley.  In one place, locals and visitors to this famous wine district can find what’s on ( whatzon ) offer at the wineries, who’s playing tonight at the local, today’s blackboard specials or sales at local shops, and heaps more.

Each advertiser has their own “badge” and promoted directly to it via the website’s login interface, SMS, twitter, email or even posterous. They can promote up to 3 times a day and have a scheduling function that allows them to get their planned message our without missing a beat. Like any form of advertising – it only works if it has something to say, and whatzon’s avid userbase are getting both more adept at it as the results come through.

One new advertiser client, VOFT Wines, a vintner on the north side of Yarra Glen ( VOFT Wines seen above ) had this to say after his first few ads were placed ( by himself ) on his first night opening with beer on tap. Before using whatzon, the usual evening attendance midweek was just a few …. And he also got a great Australia Day attendance from a few postings like the one above.

“Hi John, Last night was a huge success, customers were extremely happy, I think we did around 40 meals and the boys nearly emptied the first keg….. you're a genius, The future is looking extremely bright.”

The Client’s advertising badge is replaced on the homepage each time a new ad is placed. They are allowed only one ad on the homepage at a time and the whole page “shuffles” down as new ads are posted. Clients love it as it’s inexpensive ( a years worth of ads – up to 1000 of them is less than one small press ad ), colourful, graphic  and novel, delivers timely, immediate posting and the client is in control.

The Ben Quilty exhibition is an amazing exploration of the male Aussie psyche. If you’ve ever wanted to understand the male perspective on life – this is the place to come to.

Also, this weekend there are free storytelling sessions for the children.

Finally as I luxuriate in the solid and beauteous surroundings of TWMA I must recommend that anyone who has ever been in the presence of Renee Geyer should call and book for Oct 30ths with the concert on that night.
